DRIFTING APART...

We never knew how it happened but it happened still,
We just drifted away from each other.
Slowly, softly and quietly,
Just like that,
We became apart.
Years came and went
and before we knew it,
we were many valleys, ridges and chasms apart.

At first it was easy to apportion,
blame on tight work schedules,
endless commitments and anything else that easily came our way and looked like an easy excuse was promptly snapped up as a handy prop to fend our silly explainations,
but we were actually lying to ourselves,
glad for the momentary
escape from the truth.

Now we are many years apart,
many miles adrift and many hearts so far away from each other,
Was it meant to be this way?
If so,
I will know peace
And if not,
I will still steel myself for the illicit stolen moments.

And these were the thoughts that swam through her mind,
As she sipped black and potent coffee late at night,
While blankly watching CNN,
Like a sweet and compromised zombie.

LOVE PRINT.

Like a thief in the night,
You stole my heart,
Broke into my cage,
Broke the glass,
Took my property.

Like a begger,
You begged for a favor,
Our eyes met,
My lips parted,
Your words became mine.

Like a moth to a flame,
Your current drew me,
Like a spider in a web,
Caught in the trap,
The more i fight,
The tighter the bond.

Like a policeman,
You burst in,
Arrested me,
Sentenced me,
My crime,
Forbidden love.

You are all over my heart,
Like a bad rash,
You left your love print,
Like a tatoo,
It is permanent.

Someone help me,
Slap me with reality,
Spank me with reason,
Before i drown.

GUARDIAN ANGEL.

Come here child,
I see tears in your eyes,
You are hurt,
Your heart is bleeding,
Don't worry,
Lay your head on my chest,
While i wrap my wings of love around you.

Everynight you cry,
Everyday you bleed,
I stand beside you,
You are helpless,
Asking the why's.

Self doubt sets in,
The dark gets darker,
Can't see the light,
Wonder if it was worth it,
Walked the stony path,
Got hurt and brusied.

I hold your hand,
Stroke your hair,
Dry your tears,
My heart aches for you,
My wings secure you with love,
I can't hold you back,
But,
I can guide you,
Be there for you,
Whisper assurance,
Fill you with hope,
Watch you as you sleep,
Chase the demons.

My work is to guard,
My work is to guide,
Our lifelines are entwined,
Your secrets are my secrets,
Your joys are my joys,
Your sorrows are my sorrows,
My love is unconditional,
I will always be beside you,
Till your last breath.
